Homemade Chili Seasoning

To make your own chili seasoning, omit the packet and make your own amazing chili seasoning. You will know exactly what is in it and you won't have to worry about added stuff you can't pronounce and truly don't want in your body 🙂

1 Tbsp chili powder
1 tsp cumin
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
¼ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp pepper

The Best Chicken Chili

Are you looking for a fantastic recipe with tons of flavor? Are you looking for a versatile recipe that you can modify a little bit and still have a mouth-watering dish that will have the family begging for more? Look no further this is the ultimate chili recipe, don't take my word for it try it for yourself but be warned it is addictive.

Freezer Meal

Make a bigger batch and freeze some for later. If you like your chili a little on the spicy side, kick it up a notch with some peppers. Three jalapenos or serranos should do nicely. Take a look at the Zero point list and pick and choose your add-ins. Freezer meals have helped me to track every bite easier than before. I cook on Sundays and freeze meals for the week. I write on the bags the points and when I am ready to eat that meal the points are already calculated. It makes life so much easier.

You will enjoy this hearty meal and it will help you to stay on track with your points. I prefer to make my own chili seasoning so I can add and subtract different ingredients for taste. For a quicker meal use the packet. Enjoy the Best Chili ever and leave comments below on how you changed it so we can all try it a little differently.

  1. I always not only drain my meat, but rinse it with hot water. This will get all of the grease off. Then I leave it sitting in the collander over couple of paper towels for a few minutes to get as much water off as it can. Then I will bag or freeze it.

And we always do salt, pepper, and garlic in all of our ground beef recipes.

    • Thank you for sharing this great tip. I like to add crushed red pepper to spice it up a bit. It might be a bit much for some but just right for others. 🙂 Thank you again for the tip I will definitely pass it on.

  3. I think the size of chicken breasts has changed dramatically since Julia Child’s day, which could account for some of her shorter cook time.

    • Hey Bob! So sorry for the confusion! I updated the recipe. It should be 6 servings and they come in at about 1/2 cup a serving. Hope that helps and that you enjoy the chili!

      • Quick question, in the ingredients it says the chicken is shredded. But in the directions after it’s cooked you’re supposed to shred it. Is it shredded to begin with or after it’s cooked you shred it?

        • For shredded chicken, you always cook it and then shred it afterward. Hope that helps!
