We wanted a quick and easy dinner to cook that wasn't to time consuming. We were stopping at home for a bite to eat before heading out again to a comedy club. We wanted to stay on track so we were going to eat before we went out and only have a drink or two from our Low Point WW friendly drink list So what were we going to make that was quick, easy and filling? A tall order for sure but we came up with this delicious skillet and we were off for a night on the town.

Beef and broccoli together are comfort foods that are sure to satisfy. We wrote a post about How To Add Protein To Your Diet. Our Beef and Broccoli meal is sure to help you add protein without adding too many points.

The Beef

Four ounces of cubed lean beef is only 3 Freestyle Points 🙂 That is 26 grams of protein, no carbs, and no sugar, add the benefits of broccoli, and you can have a power meal in a matter of moments. Awesome right? We are not done with beef, yet there is so much more. Animal protein is usually of high quality, containing all nine essential amino acids needed for the growth and maintenance of your body.

And The Broccoli

Broccoli is zero points on the Weight Watchers Freestyle program. The benefits of broccoli are fantastic for your overall health. Broccoli is high in many nutrients, including fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, iron, and potassium. It also boasts more protein than most other vegetables. You read that right more protein than other veggies. So more filling goodness 🙂 1 cup of broccoli has 2.5 grams of protein and 6 grams of carbs and 2.4 grams of fiber. Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 4 oz cubed beef
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 spray pan spray
  • 1/2 cup mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Spray a large skillet with pan spray.

  3. Add cubed beef, garlic and onion powder to the skillet.
  4. Cook until the desired temperature is almost reached. (cooking time depends on how you want your meat cooked rare to well done)
I prefer medium, so I cooked it for about 3 minutes.
  5. Turn frequently to ensure even cooking.
  6. Add broccoli and mushrooms when you beef is almost done. I cooked the broccoli about 2 minutes to heat it up but not make it soft or mushy. It still had some crunch to it.
  7. My cook time with meat well done was approximately 10 minutes start to finish

  1. 1 tablespoon garlic and 1 tablespoon onion powder seems to be too much. I made this recipe tonight and it was so salty it was inedible.

    • There is no salt added to the recipe so not sure why it would be too salty. If you aren’t big on flavor, switch it up to a teaspoon! 🙂 Thanks for the feedback.
